01/07/2009 - Open Rose Group article featured in SCONUL Focus Magazine
An article featuring the JISC TechDis Guide to Obtaining Textbooks in Alternative Formats, written by the Open Rose Group, has been published in SCONUL Focus issue 45.
The 45th edition of the SCONUL (Society of College, National and University Libraries) newsletter, Focus, has been published. The lastest edition features an article by Aly Peacock, Paul Conway, Lois Burt, Chris Beevers and Audrey Cobb of the Open Rose Group titled "Obtaining accessible alternative-format materials for print-impaired students."
The article contains information on the working relationship that The Open Rose Group have with JISC TechDis and features the JISC TechDis Guide to Obtaining Textbooks in Alternative Formats alongside the Publisher Lookup UK website.
The article also describes the differing experiences of members of the Open Rose Group when trying to obtain textbooks in alternative formats. As a result of these experiences, the group have drawn up a mind-map of the processes involved and a generic letter that people can send to publishers when requests occur.
