04/12/2008 - Successes at the RSC Northern Awards
Alistair Guthrie of Dilston College and the Assistive Technology Resource Base Team of Newcastle College were among the winners at the recent RSC Northern Awards.
Alistair Guthrie was awarded the Outstanding e-Learning Award, sponsored by Natspec, for his development of lessons using GPS enabled PDAs to explore the link between two-dimensional symbols on a map and the 'real life' features they represent.

The Accessibility and Inclusion Through Technology award, sponsored by JISC TechDis, went to Newcastle College's Assistive Technology Resource Base Team. The resource base, part of a partnership between the college, RNIB and the LSC, has been instrumental in raising the profile of assistive technologies both outside and across the college by providing advice and assistance to all college services as well as offering professional help, assessment of need and the provision of high quality hardware and software to learners during their college course.
The RSC Northern Awards celebrate exceptional contributions to e-learning and education in the North East. They were presented at a gala event held at Wynyard Hall on 4 December 2008. JISC TechDis would like to congratulate all of the award winners.
